My cats are registered with both CFA (Cat Fanciers Association) and TICA (The International Cat Association) and I show them in both when I can. Below are the Breed Standards that the associations have approved. You will notice that only certain colors and patterns are approved and recognized for showing. These are the ONLY colors and patterns that are currently approved and their pedigrees will show a long history of these colors and patterns with no solids or other colors in their backgrounds. Other colors are not “rare” and more valuable. You will notice some differences in the standards with the two organizations, but mostly as to how the points are distributed, not the actual way they are supposed to look.
